18 марта 2023 года в Концертном зале Правительства Москвы состоялась торжественная церемония вручения национальной литературной премии «Поэт года», организованной Российским союзом писателей при поддержке Министерства культуры и Министерства цифрового развития, связи и массовых коммуникаций Российской Федерации. Данная премия по праву признается одной из самых авторитетных наград в российском литературном сообществе. Лауреатом основной номинации премии «Поэт года» по итогам 2022 года стал Михаил Гуцериев.
Национальная литературная премия «Поэт года» учреждена для поиска талантливых авторов, способных внести вклад в русскую литературу. Награда вручается в шести номинациях: помимо основной категории премии, где отмечаются лучшие авторы вне зависимости от направления их творчества, жюри отмечает победителей в профильных сферах: «Дебют», «Лирика», «Песни», «Юмор», «Детская литература». В этом году на соискание премии претендовали более 5 тысяч литераторов.
Для Михаила Гуцериева звание лауреата основной номинации «Поэт года» — это не первая награда в рамках премии: в прошлом году Михаил Гуцериев был признан победителем в номинации «Песни». В октябре 2022 года Михаил Гуцериев также вошел в число лауреатов Есенинской премии «Русь моя», которая проводится ежегодно ко дню рождения великого поэта Серебряного века. В марте 2023 года Михаилу Гуцериеву была вручена национальная музыкальная премия «Виктория» в номинации «Поэт года».
Конкурс на соискание премии «Поэт года» Российского союза писателей проводится в течение года, итоги традиционно объявляются накануне Всемирного дня поэзии ЮНЕСКО, который отмечается 21 марта. Конкурсный отбор премии производится специальной редакционной комиссией портала «Стихи.ру», объединяющего более миллиона авторов. В течение года в список номинантов попадает несколько тысяч поэтов, в финальный раунд отбирается 150 человек. Победителей и лауреатов премии из всех авторов, прошедших в финальный раунд, выбирает Большое жюри, в состав которого входят известные поэты, прозаики, публицисты и литературные критики.
